The weather was a lot better today than the forecast suggested it would be. After a really nice walk round Evenly Woods Gardens and a big Sunday Roast and a pint in the Red Lion I spent a couple of hours on the allotment. Now the risk of frost has passed (I hope!) I've been planting out some of the now massive tender seedlings from my propogator at home. I managed to get in a couple of rows of cucumbers (some gherkins and some good old Burpless Wonder outdoor varieties), a dozen sweetcorn plants, a row of dwarf french beans and an 8 cane structure of 8 runner beans plants. That's probably 3 times more runners than I actually need but I can never quite help myself when it comes to it! (I'm giving the surplus away - see my post in the seed swap section).
Yesterday I managed to get some tomatoes and chilli peppers under my mini propogator. I swear they've grown in the last 24 hours!
Carrots and beetroot also doing well under the netting i use to keep the pests off.
There's something exciting about finally getting tender plants out - it really makes you realise summer's arrived
