The AGM was really well attended, and it was good fun as always to all get together and chat, swap stories etc.
Thanks to Geoff and the committee for organising the AGM and all their hard work through the year.
Here are the minutes that Geoff (chairman) has sent round.
As he mentions, the next committee meeting is on the 8th July, so chat to your site reps if there's anything you want to be brought up.
Dear Allotment Holders,
About 60 people attended our AGM last week and as there are a few
changes which affect us all I thought a brief summary may be useful for
those who were unable to attend the meeting. Also you will find
attached an electronic copy of the latest edition of Allotment News.
Hard copies were handed out to those who attended the meeting.
The chairman welcomed Jane Rogers and her son Jack to the meeting and a
minutes silence was observed in memory of Keith Rogers who sadly passed
away while tending his plot on the 14th March 2015. Jane was also
thanked for the generous donation from the collection in Keith's
memory.
The following Officers and Committee members were elected for the next
year:
President: Mike Smith
Chairman: Geoff Wilkins
Secretary: Mike Cook
Treasurer: Alan Styles
Committee:
Castle Site: Colin Wills and Robert Harris
Cemetery Site: Paul Macer and Joanne Barlow
Egerton Site: Alan Styles and Bob Hodson
SPM Site: Steve Rush and Jon Sessions
A proposal was carried to increase the annual rent on plots to £25 per
year for a full plot and £12.50 for a half plot and a further proposal
was carried to discontinue the 10% concessionary discount. Both these
changes will come into effect from rent day 2015, which will be on the
31st October this year.
A further motion was carried that with immediate effect all new members
to the Association will pay an increased refundable deposit of £50 for
a full plot and £25 for a half plot to better reflect the true cost of
clearing plots which have been vacated in a poor condition or the cost
to the Association of having to let plots rent free for a period of
time. Hopefully this will also act as a deterrent to people leaving
their plots in a poor condition.
Two other motions to change the rules on sheds and ponds were lost and
therefore there will be no changes to the respective rules.
For your information, the next Committee Meeting will take place on the
8th July and therefore if you have any issues that you wish to raise,
would you please let your site reps know by the 5th July so that they
can be put on the agenda. Furthermore, the next quarterly committee
site inspections will take place over the weekend of the 11/12th July
so if your plots are not up to scratch, you have a fortnight to sort
them out.
Kind regards,
Geoff Wilkins
Chairman
